Hushed Harmony 1

This series of two paintings were created during a time of dis-unity in an organization I have belonged to for over 10 years. It was a very dis-hearting time of sadness, frustration and grief. While what I saw on the outside was not friendly or supporting, I had a strong hope that there was harmony underneath the outward appearances. In an effort to assimilate my uncomfortable feelings, I began to paint over some older failed paintings. I found by a process of scraping back, adding more and scraping back, that bits and pieces began to emerge giving me a feeling of hope for the situation I was facing. I love how the act of creating can bring me deep into my feelings in order to process them on a non-verbal level. I'm happy to say that now, six months later, much of the lack of unity has passed. 

I trusted my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to work things out because as it says in Romans 8:28 – "I know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose."
